EMI
EMI Publishing commissioned Musinter to do a report that will cover the impact of the development of mobile applications and services for EMI Publishing as rights holders in the past and short term future.
Ringtone sales sites
Musinter has set up a number of sites that sell and deliver ringtones worldwide using a variety of mechanisms for the collection of money. The sites are available to view on the mobile phone as well as on the PC. The mobile site is optimised for the mobile browser which can be used for purchases directly from the mobile phone. The shop owners have the ability to edit the site themselves and create different views of the same page when viewed on a mobile browser and on a PC. To see this in action, on a mobile browser go to http://wap.music-phone.co.uk and on a PC go to www.music-phone.co.uk you will be able to view the same pages with the same site layout on both the mobile and the PC. The web page editor uses tools that could be used by anyone who has used basic PC software, for example 'Word'. Other sites include realmusictones.co.uk , realmusicringtones.co.uk and just-ringtones.info plus more.
The ringtone that can be re-mixed
Musinter performed a key role in setting up the use of MadWaves re-mix technology on the Samsung Fun Club. The MadMixer service allows the customer to remix their favourite tunes to create original ringtones. By using simple controls to remix Bass, Drums, Riff and Leads, they can transform well-known songs into a unique ringtone. They can also creating their own ringtones, the MadMixer service can generate an original, mixable ringtone to their choice of style.
Pre-paid scratch cards
Musinter set up and is developing a pre-paid scratch card solution to enable customers to pay by cash for mobile and PC downloads. This works in a similar manner to the top up cards used for pay as you go pre-paid mobile phone accounts. The difference is that instead of purchasing air time the customer is taken to a location on their mobile phone where they can receive downloads and physical goods that have been pre-paid for. This system uses a validation process that is not just limited to using scratch cards. Used by BBC 1Xtra. More information at: www.scratchfone.com
